Describe the roof type if known, where the issue appears inside or outside, and when it happens. Photos from ground level, loft signs, stains or missing tiles can help. Do not climb onto a roof to take photos or inspect damage.
Yes. Wind, rain, frost and light levels can affect safety and whether roof work can proceed. A Provider may need to reschedule or perform a temporary make-safe before a fuller repair. Agree how weather delays and access will be handled.
Roofers may need access to the outside of the property, loft space, driveway or rear garden. Mention conservatories, extensions, narrow side access, parking restrictions or shared access. Safe access equipment should be discussed by the Provider, not improvised by the Customer.
Share property type, approximate roof size and any plans. Ask for a written scope covering covering materials, access, disposal and how unexpected damage is handled.
Mention roof age, covering type if known and where water collects or leaks. Ask how drainage, edges and inspection will be addressed in the proposed work.
Describe leaks, overflow or damaged sections and the building height. Ask whether the scope is cleaning, repair or replacement and how safe access is arranged.
Explain whether the issue concerns brickwork, flashing, a pot or an appliance connection. Ask which specialist is appropriate, avoid climbing up for photographs.
Explain the roof material and the result you want. Ask the Provider to assess a suitable cleaning method and how they will protect gutters, plants and nearby surfaces.
