Should I turn off the water before a plumber arrives?

If there is an active leak and it is safe to do so, turning off the relevant isolation valve or stopcock can limit damage. Tell the Provider what you have turned off and whether you know where the stopcock is. Do not attempt work that feels unsafe or outside your ability.
